With Pininfarina Home Design, the firm introduces its distinctive aesthetic  and innovative solutions to the field of interior design.  Pininfarina Home Design combines the distinctive character of the company's luxury product designs with a decidedly contemporary aesthetic. Influenced by Italy's rich heritage of furniture-making, the distinctive lighting, upholstery, tables and cabinetry of the collection are built to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. The Vela Chair: 

Created for refined and elegant modern spaces, the Vela chair is distinguished by dynamic, sensual lines that are evocative of a finely designed automobile. Vela is constructed of two independent sections; the contoured shell of the seat back rests on two discreet steel posts, evoking a feeling of lightness and movement. References to automotive design continue with the choice of materials - the hard exterior shell communicates protection, while the soft leather interior creates a sense of comfort and luxury. The contrast between hard and soft is further emphasized in the choice of materials;  smooth leather covers the hard exterior of the shell, while buttery-soft Nubuck or fine leather on the interior embrace the body. The carefully designed wood legs, with their crisp edges and smooth finish, further accentuate the theme of solidity and lightness.
